Following the 2011 model public unveiling in the Frankfurt Motor Show, Skoda come up, bringing the official details of this Volkswagen Up! City car version which is expected to employ the Citigo badge.
The company has set that the vehicle should have arrived on Czech market before the end of 2011. While for the UK and other European countries, the vehicle will arrive at the early summer in 2012.
The vehicle will be available in a three- door body style during its launch, be different with its Wolfsburg sister. On the other hand the Citigo will come in both three- door and five- door models.
However, recently the Volkswagen Group has busy in wrapping the usual platform and mechanical hardware which also employed in the other models of its brands along with an exclusive body shells.
The Skoda’s front presents some distinctive features compared to the others’ common design, such as the bumper, headlamps and grille designs, the alloy wheels adds the tail lamp graphics and the bumper.
The vehicles share mostly the same dimensions. Citigo is 3,563 mm in length, 1,642 mm width and 1,478 tall, along with 2,420 mm wheelbase.
The company claimed that the Citigo is able to carry four- passengers in a comfort cabin. The boot space can accommodate 251 liters. You will get more space of 951 liters when you fold down the rear seats.
The interior of the Citigo is estimated to be more or less the same with the styling of the VW Up!. Citigo will be equipped with a portable navigation system completed with a 5 inch screen which offers hands- free calling with built-in Bluetooth and committed infotainment features.
A choice of two fresh units for the Skoda model will be offered to the buyers, a three- cylinder 1.0 liter petrol engines producing 60 hp and 75 hp in both standard and the Green Tec flavors.
The standard model figures the fuel consumption of 62.8 mpg UK and 52.3 mpg US. The CO2 emission delivered at 105 g/ km for the 60 hp engine, while the 75 hp engine delivers 60.1 mpg UK fuel economy and 97 g and 99 g/ km of CO2 emission.
